BRING a jam jar as West Ham Park will host the ever-popular “Park in the Dark” on Friday (10/12). The council-funded event is organised by park’s “Friends” group and will involve making a lantern, collecting a glow bracelet and then forming a candle lit procession through the park to the bandstand, where refreshments will be served.

There will be entertainment from singing storyteller Pete Castle (www.petecastle.co.uk ). “Birds of West Ham Park” written by local expert Bob Smith will also be given out on the night.

Park manager Geraldine King promised a magical evening.

The event starts at 4.45pm, after the Park has closed for the night, and will end around 7pm. Access will be by South Gate, on The Portway, and exit will be from Portway Gate, also on the Portway.

Everyone is welcome but all children must be accompanied by an adult.
