TWO Forest Gate men convicted of murdering an innocent couple in a botched ‘honour killing’ are appealing their convictions, it has emerged.
Hisamuddin Ibrahim, 21, of Shelley Avenue, and Habib Iqbal, 25, of Strone Road, received life sentences after being found guilty of the murder of Abdullah and Ayesha Mohammed when as part of a gang they deliberately started a fire in the couple’s home in Blackburn, Lancashire in October 2009. The victim’s three children survived the attack.
At their trial at Preston Crown Court in August the prosecution claimed Ibrahim had asked his best friend Iqbal to carry out an attack against a man who was having an affair with his married sister.
But the gang got the wrong house on London Road which h they set alight, killing the Mohammed’s.
Legal papers have been lodged with the Court of Appeal.
Two other convicted killers, Mohammed Junaid Miah, 20, of Pelly Road, and Sadek Miah, 24, of the Isle of Dogs, have not appealed against their convictions or life sentences.
