A public exhibition is taking place next week on major plans to transform Forest Gate town centre.
During the event, held from 2pm to 9pm at Durning Hall in Earlham Grove on Wednesday, residents will be able to give their views on regeneration proposals, including a 26-storey housing block, shops, cafes and restaurants, and a facelift for the high street.
While retaining its Victorian character, the scheme is designed to revitalise the town centre by replacing a number of buildings by the station facing Earlham Grove, Woodgrange Road and Sprowston Road, as well as providing a new Methodist Hall and community facilities.
The fruit of four years of discussions between developer Obsidian and Newham Council, the scheme is designed to compliment the new Crossrail station in Forest Gate, which is scheduled to open in 2017.
A planning application is due to be submitted by Obsidian to Newham Council at the end of October following the public consultation.
