Footie fans have the chance to follow in the footsteps of their heroes in a five-a-side competition run by a hospice this autumn.

Richard House Children’s Hospice, based in Beckton, is organising a football tournament at the Powerleague Centre, in Worship Street, near Liverpool Street in central London on October 7.

The event is open to players of all abilities and organiser Natasha Reynolds is hoping the new soccer season will inspire people to sign up.

Natasha, events fundraiser at Richard House, said: “With the professional football season up and running again this year, I hope everyone has caught the bug again.

“But whether you’re more League Two than Lionel Messi, we want you to get a team together and take part in our annual five-a-side tournament.

“It’s great fun, great value and a great cause to support. Who knows, you may even be crowned champions.”

The tournament will start at 6pm on Friday October 7. Registration is just 180 per team and minimum sponsorship is 250 per team. Trophies will be allocated to the 1st and 2nd place teams.

Up to seven players are allowed per team with two registered as substitutes. Applications must be in by September 8.
