After a quick stop-off at Central Park during the Mayor’s Newham Show, the torch set off for Stratford.
Hundreds of people lined Romford Road to await its arrival, and our picture gallery (link to the top left of this article) captures all the excitement.
Families also took advantage of the beaming sunshine to take in the festivities.
Eight-year-old Zak Anani was one of those who came well prepared for the wait - he brought his book along.
