Supermarket staff have won a community grant to take cancer carers and patients on a trip to the countryside.
Sainsbury’s in the Stratford Centre on Broadway applied to their head office to fund a day out in Windsor for people who are looked after and work for Cancer You Are Not Alone (CYANA) in Newham.
Employees handed over a £500 cheque to charity representatives in store on Monday June 17 and the gesture marked the last day of their partnership with CYANA which was the supermarket’s chosen charitable organisation for 2013-2014.
