A primary school in Forest Gate welcomed guest faith speakers and members of the community to celebrate a peace day.
Independent Islamic Primary School, Alif Academy, Katherine Road, celebrated International Peace Day on Friday, September 20, with Father Stilianos from Greek Orthodox Church, in Rutland Road, and Catriona Robertson of the London Boroughs Peace Network.
Over 200 people attended the event and headteacher Hafiz Abdullah Muhammad, addressed the visitors while pupils read statements promoting peace.
Mr Muhammad said: “Every world religion teaches peace and everyone wants peace.
“So we should work together towards that objective as common citizens of this global village.”
