A volunteer who recruited young refugees and migrants to help clean up the borough has received a Team London award from Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
Olivia Woodward took home the Greening and Cleaning prize, in the under-25 category, after rejuvenating the garden space at the Child & Family Consultation Service office, Barking Road.
The ceremony at City Hall was attended by the Mayor and sports stars including Paralympic volleyball player Martine Wright and former England and Tottenham Hotspur defender Ledley King.
The Team London awards celebrates volunteers from across London for their inspiring efforts, including mentoring young people, working with young offenders and leading inspirational sports programmes.
Boris said: “Team London volunteers represent the cream of our capital, giving their precious time and tireless effort to make a real difference to our lives whilst helping to make London the fantastic city it is.”
