St Mark’s Church held a book sale to raise money for a Girl Guide to run a book bus in Malawi.
Bethany Yates, 14, of Forest Gate Girl Guides, has been fundraising for the trip, where she will help a mobile library.
The book sale on Saturday also provided drinks and homemade cakes.
The Rev Peter Stow of St Mark’s, an Anglican church in Forest Gate, said: “We encourage anything that can advance culture and learning, especially while people are young and they have the opportunity.”
