Nine people were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in Walton Road, Plaistow, on Sunday morning.
The occupants managed to escape the house before crews arrived but the blaze damaged part of the ground floor of the house.
Four fire engines from East Ham, Plaistow, Stratford, and Barking attended the scene.
The brigade was called at 9.25am and the fire was out by 10.09am.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
