Borough commander Tony Nash will attend a community group meeting in Forest Gate on Tuesday.
The Monega Association have called the meeting following two recent warnings to households in Katherine Road about house break-ins.
The borough’s local safer neighbourhoods team will also attend the evening, and a local security company will give a presentation about how residents and shopkeepers can improve their security systems.
Association chairman Bob Rush said the group were “very pleased” that Mr Nash would be visiting the group, adding: “This is genuine from the bottom up community initiative at work and represents, I hope, exactly what should be happening more often”.
The meeting will take place at St Edmunds Church, on the corner of Halley Road and Katherine Road, at 7.30pm.
Admission costs £1 per person. Refreshments will be provided.
