A toddler has been badly hurt with life-threatening injuries in a traffic accident in an east London church car-park.
Police are tonight appealing for witnesses following the incident in Plaistow after an evening service on Saturday.
The three-year-old boy was in the car-park at the London Ghana Seventh Day Adventist Church at Chadwin Road at 6pm, police have confirmed.
A Mercedes was manoeuvring to leave following an evening service at the church when the accident happened.
The child was taken to the Royal London Hospital at Whitechapel with life-threatening injuries and has since been transferred to Great Ormond Street, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
No arrests have been made and investigations continue.
Church-goers or passers-by who may have seen what happened in Chadwyn Road on Saturday evening are being asked to contact the Chadwell Heath Serious Collision Investigation unit on 020-8597 4874.
