Two men were taken to hospital after their car smashed into a cafe in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Part of the wall of Cafe Chaps, in Plaistow Road, Plaistow, was damaged in the collision leading to a partial collapse of the building.
Firefighters rescued a woman who was trapped in the flat above the shop, using a ladder to bring her to safety. She was not injured.
Crews from Plaistow and Poplar fire stations shored up the ground floor of the building to make it safe.
