Budding young musicians received a special visit from Rita Ora.

The chart-topping singer headed to East London Arts and Music academy, in Pitchford Street, Stratford, last Friday to take a tour of the new school, to observe lessons and to take part in a question and answer session with students.

Headteacher of the school, Charlie Kennard, said the visit served as a “great inspiration” for students.

He said: “It was a fantastic day.

“She spent the whole day at the school and spent a good amount of time with trainees, observing their work.”

The new X Factor judge also took the opportunity to listen to some of the original work created by trainees.

“She seemed very impressed with what she heard on the day and had good things to say. She was very down to earth and was interested in the work presented by our trainees.”

Altogether, the 70 young musicians, aged between 16 and 19, also had the chance to ask the star questions about her rise to fame and successful music career.

Mr Kennard said: “She was very enthusiastic in answering the questions and was able to inspire the trainees through what she said.

Student, April Okwuadi, said the singer was able to connect with students during the visit.

She added: “She was able to connect with all of us so naturally and she is such an inspiration to young people who sometimes need to be reminded that everything worth doing requires hard work.”

A statement from the school reads: “It was a pleasure to host Rita at ELAM, we have lot’s of industry professionals visit us but Rita’s enthusiasm, humility and passion really made her stand out. The students were all clearly motivated to go on and work hard in order to achieve their goals after meeting Rita.”

The arts college, which opened its doors in September, is aimed at developing creative talents of youngsters.
