Residents were evacuated from their homes after a gas scare yesterday afternoon.
London Fire Brigade was called shortly before 12.30pm after concerns were made about the safety of an individual. Firefighters attended a property in Olive Road in Plaistow with police officers and an ambulance crew.
After reports of a strong smell of gas at the location, neighbouring residents were evacuated from their properties until the area was made safe by British Gas and the London Fire Brigade.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that residents were allowed back to their homes after approximately an hour.
