An eco-friendly primary enjoyed a special visit from MP Lyn Brown after becoming the first school in the borough to win four Green Flags.
Pupils, parents and staff at St Luke’s CEVA Primary School, in Ruscoe Road, were delighted to be given a fourth award by Eco Schools in recognition of their environmental efforts.
“I am so very proud of all the hard work and dedication of the pupils and staff of St Luke’s when it comes to the environment,” Lyn Brown, who congratulated the school on Friday, said. “It was a privilege to return to St Luke’s to hoist their fourth Green Flag and I have no doubt I will be returning in the future as their fantastic work continues.”
The Canning Town primary has an eco-garden to support wildlife, allotments to grow vegetables and compost bins to recycle food waste.
It also has green partnerships with schools in Ethiopia, Burma, France and Essex.
