A man was taken to hospital after being rescued from a shop fire in East Ham this morning.
Firefighters attended the Barking Road kebab shop just before 7am and were able to get the blaze under control by 8.40am.
One man was found to be suffering from smoke inhalation and taken to hospital in an ambulance.
Fire and heavy smoke damaged part of the ground floor of the shop, with the cause currently under investigation.
Barking Road was closed between High Street South and Ron Leighton Way and a number of buses were diverted while the fire was put out.
Traffic has now returned to normal in the area.
