More than 100 children from Quwwat-ul-Islam Girls school have helped raise £400 by walking around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
With the Forest Gate school pupils joining forces with hundreds from St Joseph’s Catholic junior school, in Leyton for the walk to show their support for Macmillan Cancer Support and CAFOD’s Lent appeal.
The groups have also been raising money by putting on cake sales, non-uniform days and donation pots around their schools.
Suraiya Zannath, organiser at Quwwat-ul-Islam Girls school, said: “The students and staff enjoyed the walk with St Joseph’s school and hope that they can collaborate in various projects, activities and fundraisers in the future.
“Working together to help the community shows how united we all are. Together, we achieve more.”
