Three men tried to illegally climb the ArcelorMittal Orbit and parachute off in the early hours of this morning.
Officers were called to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park at about 2am to find a British man and two French nationals inside the first part of 114m-structure, complete with parachutes in rucksacks.
The group, who were told to leave immediately or face arrest, admitted plans to climb the UK’s tallest sculpture then parachute off.
No-one was arrested although it is understood the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park’s security team will prosecute all three privately.
