An elderly woman has been taken to hospital after being rescued from a fire at a house.
Fire crews rescued the woman via an internal staircase on the first floor of a terrace house in Belgrave Road, Plaistow.
She was suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to the scene at 10.15am. The fire was brought under control by 11.13am.
Half of the first floor was damaged by the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
