The former Granada Theatre in Barking Road has been transformed into a three-storey playground complete with London’s first indoor caving experience and a giant super-slide with an almost 30ft drop.

Thrill-seekers can enjoy a 100-metre indoor potholing zone and 12 themed climbing walls, including both ice and volcano walls.

Flip Out London E6 also has a laser maze, cyber tower, ninja warrior course - as seen on TV - and dodgeball.

The centre marks the tenth opening for trampoline company Flip Out and will create 100 new jobs.

East Ham’s Granada Theatre, which once saw performances by The Beatles and Rolling Stones, has undergone several reincarnations since first opening as a theatre in 1936.

It was converted into the Granada Bingo Club in 1976 before being taken over by Gala Bingo in 1991.

It closed in 2014 after a brief spell as a banqueting hall and lay dormant until the beginning of this year when Flip Out took over.

Matt Miller, the centre’s general manager, said: “We are proud to be bringing the first ever indoor caving experience to London and we are also thrilled about being the capital’s biggest trampoline park.

“The Granada Theatre’s rich heritage is evident throughout the venue with many of the building’s original features being carefully restored or repurposed.

“Instead of demolishing the stage where music icons once played, it has been converted into a foam pit.

“There is also a mural depicting some of the top musicians who have played at the venue and there are even theatre seats, where spectators can sit and watch the action.”

Other family attractions include an enchanted castle themed soft play zone, inspired by the original art deco staircases at the venue, which have been carefully restored.

Free entry into the soft play zone is available for visitors until July 7 under an introductory offer. Entry usually costs £4.25 on weekdays and £4.95 on weekends.

Standard jumping sessions start from £12 and provide unlimited access to the park for one hour.
