Newham College’s GCSE pupils have celebrated an improvement in the number of A*-C grades or equivalent.
The college recorded a 6.9 per cent rise on last year’s figures, with both maths and English pass rates exceeding the national average.
Norris Owusu, who took the new-style maths exam, said: “The course introduced new elements and units that I found interesting and challenging. The teachers are experienced and give relevant and helpful advice, which has really helped me get good GCSE grades.”
The director of student services at Newham College, Clive Ansell, said: “Teaching staff are dedicated to guaranteeing that every student gets the level of support that’s needed to achieve grade C / 4 or above in English and Maths.
“This year’s results are particularly good and our Learner Services team is keen to introduce everyone with GCSEs to the full range of opportunities that we can offer.”
