In 2022, the Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service.

In order to celebrate, we have dived through the archives to remember some of her most triumphant and tragic moments covered by this newspaper.

After England's historic win against West Germany in the World Cup final at Wembley Stadium in 1966, the Recorder captured the moment Queen Elizabeth II presented the Jules Rimet Cup to Bobby Moore, captain of the national football team at the time.

There has also been tragic stories. In the early hours of August 31, 1997, Princess Diana died from the injuries she sustained in a car crash.

Diana was 36 years old when she died and her death caused an unprecedented outpouring of public grief in the UK and worldwide, and her funeral was watched by an estimated 2.5 billion people.

The Recorder was no exception, reporting on the shock and devastation felt by millions across the world.

And then there was the Golden Jubilee celebration back in 2002.

This marked the 50th anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne on February 6, 1952.

Despite the deaths of her sister Princess Margaret and mother, in February and March of that year respectively, and predictions in the media that the anniversary would be a non-event, the jubilee was marked with large-scale celebrations throughout London in June.
