The herb garden was decorated with green bunting, and stalls were set up by organisations like The Barking and Dagenham Allotment Association, as well as the RSPB who taught children all about local wildlife.

There was also a ‘Browse for Bargains’ book stall, a stall selling Valence House honey, and the opportunity to look around a plot with vegetables grown during the Second World War.

Fresh food with ingredients straight from the museum’s own gardens was served by the Oasis Café.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Barking and Dagenham, Hardial Singh Rai.
