A schoolgirl is starting the new term with a new look after chopping her hair off for charity.
Georgia Newton, eight, raised £400 for the Little Princess Trust after having 13 inches of her hair cut off.
The youngster, who starts back at William Ford C of E School in Dagenham on Monday, decided to fundraise for the cancer charity as a family friend is battling the disease at the moment.
Mobile hairdresser Nicola Davis, 24, went to Georgia’s house in Church Elm Lane to carry out the chop last month.
Her hair will now be turned into a wig for a child who has suffered hair loss due to chemotherapy.
Georgia’s mum, Lisa, said: “She’s all excited about going back to school with her new hairdo and can’t wait to show her picture from the Post in assembly.
“I am so proud of her and know that everyone who knows her is just as proud. She has been able to do something for someone who may be going through a really tough time.”
