A team of charitable teenagers raised £620 for charity at this year’s Barking and Dagenham Youth Parade.
Young people from the Barking and Dagenham Youth Forum raised the funds for its chosen charity, Richard House Children’s Hospice.
More than 1,000 youngsters took part in last month’s parade which started in Barking Park and proceeded through the town before finishing in Abbey Green.
Cllr Evelyn Carpenter, cabinet member for educational attainment and school improvement, said: “It is great to see young people from across our borough stand up and make a difference.”
The Youth Forum also cheered on the borough’s young mayor Pelumi Oyewo, 16, in a custard welly race against council leader Cllr Darren Rodwell, where they put on t-shirts, scarves and hats while running in custard-filled boots.
The Youth Forum also organised a raffle, tombola and face painting activities, with prizes donated by local businesses.
