Sir Robin Wales and MP Lyn Brown joined Met officers at a service to remember fallen police constable Nina Mackay.
The 25-year-old was fatally stabbed 19 years ago after she went to arrest a wanted man at a flat in Arthingworth Street on October 24, 1997.
Borough officers attended a service on the anniversary of her death yesterday to pay tribute to their former colleague.
A speech was given by second-in-command Supt Ian Larnder and flowers were placed at the memorial outside the housing association block where she was stabbed.
