The people of Newham joined the nation to honour all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice at services of remembrance across the borough.
They were joined by war veterans proudly displaying their campaign medals beside poppies looking bright in the crisp autumn sun yesterday.
Councillors, representatives of the services, the police and members of the public as well as young cadets took part in services on Remembrance Sunday.
Church leaders led prayers and reminded people that so many gave their todays for our tomorrows. Many gathered at the East Ham Cenotaph in Central Park, while others attended All Saints West Ham Parish Church, St Luke’s Memorial in Tarling Road, Canning Town and St Mark’s Memorial Brick Music Hall, Factory Road, North Woolwich.
