The developer behind proposals to regenerate Forest Gate town centre has pledged to take on board residents’ views after feelings ran high at a public consultation last month.
Richard Cutler, development director of Obsidian, said: “We had over 400 people attend the public exhibition, testament I think to the passion people feel about the community here and the interest in our proposals.
“We’re currently reviewing the feedback and where possible will incorporate it into our evolving plans.
“There are clearly some issues we need to work through with the local community on height but we believe this is a great scheme for Forest Gate; one that will work with the best of what is already here, increase the number, range and quality of shops and really enhance the community spaces in the area, something that our consultation has shown people really want”.
Mr Cutler’s comments followed a lively meeting at Durning Hall in Earlham Grove, where some residents objected to a 26-storey tower included in the proposals, which also feature shops, cafes and restaurants, up to 850 homes, community facilities and a facelift for the area.
