Hundreds of residents from some of Newham’s diverse communities came together to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Dragon and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
They enjoyed a variety of activities and demonstrations organised by the Newham Chinese Association at an event held last week (Feb 16).
Martial arts experts gave demonstrations of Kung Fu and Tai Chi while others staged indoor Chinese opera and a Lion Dance. Much of day’s activities were free and were open to members of the public.
The highly colourful event, held at the Main Hall, in East Ham Manor Way, Beckton, marked the Chinese Year of the Dragon. It also allowed members of the community to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
