Tickets for the first-ever East Village Fireworks display being staged at the Olympic Park’s new E20 housing complex on Bonfire Night have all gone—more than a week ahead.
Tickets for the 409th anniversary bash of what Guy Fawkes tried to do to Parliament were snapped up within minutes at the weekend, organisers have revealed.
But two miles away, a huge display is being staged four days before by Newham Council at Wanstead Flats.
The show set to music is located in Central Road, Forest Gate, this coming Saturday, starting 6.30pm, gates opening at 5.30pm.
Security searchers may held, spectators are warned, with a ban on dogs, sparklers, personal fireworks, glass bottles and alcohol—and there are no parking facilities either.
Back at East Village, their two-and-a-half hour celebration of the 1605 Gunpower Plot on November 5 itself is being lit up appropriately in Celebration Avenue.
But space for spectators is now full up.
“The tickets were all reserved in minutes and there are no longer any left,” a spokesman for East Village organisers said today. “Anyone without a ticket won’t be able to get in.”
Sparking the flame is Darryl Fleming, fireworks mastermind behind London’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, the 2012 Olympics, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay and Glasgow’s 2014 Commonwealth Games ceremonies.
Darryl is known as the first man to equal the amount of explosives taken into the Houses of Parliament as Guy Fawkes.
