Okay, so the Sherlock star wasn’t actually eaten alive, but shoppers did take sneaky bites out of a lifesized chocolate statue of him this weekend.

Before Easter, we told you about how the stunning six-foot tall chocolate idol had been made. Now you can see what happened next.

Chocobatch went on display in Westfield Stratford City on Good Friday, and hidden cameras were rigged up to see if shoppers could resist temptation.

To cut a long story short, they couldn’t. People licked, nibbled and chomped at the sculpture, with one cheeky woman even stealing Ben’s nose! His fingers and bow tie were also stolen.

The hidden camera stunt was performed to celebrate Benedict being named Britain’s dishiest drama actor in a poll, and the launch of TV channel Drama on the new on-demand service

What would you do if you came across a chocolate Cumberbatch? Would you have a sneaky nibble or would you preserve his sweet perfection? Comment below or tweet us @london24
