Dr Who script writer Gareth Roberts visits East Ham

PUBLISHED: 12:30 16 March 2012

Saturday is an important day for Doctor Who and Douglas Adams fans when TV writer Gareth Roberts is in East Ham for the launch of his new book based on a partly made Douglas Adams script for the show.

Shada sees the fourth Doctor (as played by Tom Baker) arrive in a six part story that was never finished by the BBC in the 1970’s due to a strike.

Roberts, writer for the revived Doctor Who series and the spin-off Sarah Jane Adventures, now has a new hardback novelisation from BBC Books based on the original script by Douglas Adams, of HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy and Dirk Gently fame.

Shop owner, and life-long Doctor Who fan, Alexandra Looseley-Saul said: “It’s great to have Gareth at the shop. Since it came back, his episodes have been one of the highlights. Shada is a classic Tom Baker story from Douglas Adams who would have been sixty this week.”

Gareth is at The Who Shop in High Street North, to sign copies of Shada between 12 and 2pm.
