Ultimate animal lovers are in for a special treat as the nation’s favourite pet show is heading to the London ExCel this week.

The London Pet Show promises to treat guests to two full days packed with dogs dancing, duck herding and even rabbits show jumping!

Visitors will get an insight into the weird and wonderful characteristics of a variety of animals as they will be able to discover everything they need to know about dogs, cats, rabbits, chinchillas, micro pigs, ponies, parrots, hamsters, fish and even geckos.

The show, sponsored by Gocompare.com, will also bring in some new features including Hill’s School for Dogs, where even the most disobedient dog can become head pupil.

Guests can also look forward to TopCats, an exciting cat show open to members of the public who are encouraged to enter their feline friends to compete for certificates and rosettes in categories including Friendliest Cat, Most Handsome Male, and as the finale, Best Household Pet.

The London Pet Show will also provide visitors with the opportunity to shop in the Market Place – this is a place to find the latest and most innovative treats, toys, food, clothes and gifts for pets.

Supervet, Noel Fitzpatrick, from Channel 4, will also be on hand to present SuperDogs Live competition and exclusive Supervet Live show.

He said: “If you love animals then you will love The London Pet Show!

“I very rarely leave the practice for public events, and even more rarely for an event where I can meet the people who watch The Supervet.

“I can’t wait to see you there and to hold your hand (or your paw!)”

Other exciting features and demonstrations to look out for include obedience displays by the Metropolitan Police, puppy training with expert trainer and behaviourist Gwen Bailey and talks from reptile expert Crocodile Joe.

A spokeswoman, for the London Pet Show, said: “With 25,000 visitors expected the London Pet Show is the perfect opportunity for animal lovers of all ages to learn about different types of pets, to get the latest advice and to do some excellent shopping.

“Amongst all the fun, at the heart of the show are messages of responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.”

The London Pet Show takes place on Saturday and Sunday at the ExCel in Royal Victoria Dock, Custom House, from 9.30am to 5pm on both days.

Ticket prices start at £12.78 for children and £18.10 for adults aged 16 and over.
