Simon Cowell reportedly wants to reunite the original X Factor judging panel in a bid to reignite the show’s flagging fortunes.
The TV mogul reportedly wants to return the show to where it started in 2004 with a three person panel consisting of himself, Louis Walsh - the only remaining original judge - and Sharon Osbourne.
He is also said to be keen to get Dannii Minogue - who was on the show between 2007 and 2010 - back on board. A source told The Sun newspaper: “The first three series relied solely on genuine British talent and a chemistry between the judges that simply hasn’t been there since Sharon left.
“By series three they had produced an international star with Leona Lewis and the show had real credibility.
“Now it’s just a circus freak show with the ringmaster trying to pull the strings on the other side of the Atlantic.
“If Simon can get the original judges and format back he will truly have pulled victory from the jaws of defeat.”
The current judging panel is led by Gary Barlow, who is joined by Louis, Nicole Sherzinger and Tulisa.
Meanwhile, current contestant Lucy Spraggan has pulled out of this weekend’s shows because of illness.
The comedian Eddie Izzard has hit out at London Mayor Boris Johnson whilst maintaining he is ready for the challenge of pursuing politics himself.
