A cinema kiosk modelled on a 1920s ticket booth will screen a love story on the tube for commuters at Stratford Station.
The short film called Who is Community? is about a fictional meeting on the Central Line between the founder of the modern Olympic Games, Pierre de Coubertin, and German political theorist Hannah Arendt. It also features a series of images for Stratford Underground station by artist Bob and Roberta Smith and director Tim Newton.
Mr Newton said: “The film makes a serious point about how to understand publicness in a joyful, optimistic and playful way.”
Commuters can watch the film on two small cinema-screens incorporated into the heritage-style ticket booth from October 17.
A special launch at Stratford Theatre Royal on October 17 will mark the installation with a live production of music from the film.
The film was commissioned by Art on the Underground.
