The largest Italian gourmet food show, Bellavita, is to premier in the UK on July 19.
The three-day extravaganza will see more than 200 exhibitors from every region in Italy feature their unique products at the Old Truman Brewery.
Cheeses, wines, cured meats and more will all be showcased by independent artisans and larger established brands such as Lavazza and Campari, as well as round table discussions, workshops and product tastings.
Live cooking demonstrations will also be displayed from Michelin starred Giorgio Locatelli, Agostino Jacobucci, Filippo Chiappini and many others.
Bellavita founder Aldo Maccozzo said: “The Bellavita expo is the first international trade show about ‘Made in Italy’ and this actually is the biggest event to promote that. There are no other events worldwide at this kind of size.”
Aldo’s company has been organising the event for the past year, with regional consultants in Italy hand-sourcing the finest goods as well as a huge variety of choice, for example, seven types of mozzarella.
Aldo said: “Italian exports for food and beverages are worth £32bn worldwide but the total value of Italian “sounding” products which are actually made elsewhere is worth £60bn.”
He added that manufacturers saw the value in Italian branding and Bellavita aimed to validate authentic Italian products.
With intentions to take the exhibition worldwide, it has also been publicly backed by Martin Schulz, president of the European Parliament, who said: “Considering the significant international scope and the cultural, economic impact of the project, attesting the high value of the promotional initiative for the Italian territory, I wish Bellavita all the best for the event.”
Tickets cost £12.99 per day and are available on bellavitaexpo.com.
