Redknapp will join Mick McCarthy and regulars Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer during the Premier League season.

He was fired by Tottenham earlier this year and replaced by former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas.

Redknapp had been widely touted as favourite for the England job, only for Roy Hodgson to get the nod

Hansen's former Liverpool teammate Mark Lawrenson will also continue to feature on an occasional basis.

The show, hosted by Gary Lineker, returns to BBC1 tomorrow night (Saturday) at 10.30pm.
