Plashet Park bowler Vic Byrne shows his class at the East Ham & District League finals
The summer bowls season may be slowly drawing to a close, but Plashet Park’s Vic Byrne is still going strong after appearing in two events at the East Ham & District League Finals day.
It proved to be a mixed day for the Plashet Park bowler with the highlight being the Secretaries final where he came up against Ron Harris and simply blew him away.
The Phoenix Bowls Club man didn’t know what hit him as Byrne started strongly and never let his opponent off the hook.
Consequently, it took just 14 ends before Byrne was crowned as the champion, 21-3.
The big one, however, the EH&D singles final was a very different story as Byrne found the boot was on the other foot against the brilliant Bill Nelson from Fords.
Byrne found himself 11-1 down after just eight ends and was never able to live with the accuracy of Nelson’s bowls as he ran out a convincing winner, 21-6.
