Y11: Royal Docks 2 Rokeby 6

Rokeby’s year 11 boy got the better of Royal Docks in a friendly meeting ahead of their cup fixtures.

The two teams had drawn 4-4 last year and, after a frantic and physical opening five minutes, Royal Docks opened the scoring with a well-taken goal on the counter attack.

The home side’s lead was shortlived, though, as Rokeby levelled with a calm finish from England Schools’ squad member Daniel Disubi.

Rokeny then took control in midfield as Ruben Santos, Darnell Bromfield and Calvin Ughellumba impressed and they took the lead before half time after a flowing move from the edge of their own box.

Ughellumba tapped in after a lung-busting run and good work from Michael Delgado and Daniel Williams to make it 2-1 at the interval.

And Rokeby turned on the style in the second half, with more well-taken goals from Santos and Williams.

The defence looked excellent throughout with top performances from goalkeeper Harees Azam and the centre-back pairing of Yoan Edoukou and Herculano Semedo.

And coach Matthew Perry said: “It was an excellent all-round team performance and a thoroughly well deserved victory away from home after last year’s draw.”
