Newham youngsters win first match of new season
Newham Dockers made a superb start to the 2013 season with a last-gasp win over London Skolars.
The east London club has added under-16 and under-19 teams to the under-12s and under-14s it fielded in its inaugural campaign.
And the eldest group, made up predominantly of players from New Vic College and Leyton Sixth Form, came from behind to beat their derby rivals.
After the reigning champion Skolars had claimed an early 4-0 lead, Dockers settled into the match and hit back with a try from their left wing to level.
A tough conversion was missed, which left both sides looking for a late drop goal to clinch victory.
Skolars missed from three attempts, before Oli Toms slotted the ball through the posts to win it for Dockers with less than a minute remaining.
The under-16s recorded a comfortable 16-4 win over Hemel, while the under-14s were edged out 22-10 by Elmbridge Eagles.

Mark Pettini kept his cool to see Essex to their second LV= County Championship Division Two victory of the season by beating Glamorgan by five wickets with seven balls to spare at Cardiff.
