The arrival of snow hasn’t stopped planning for the first London summer basketball league being staged in Docklands in July.
Isthmian Basketball is holding the three-day event at the University of East London’s SportsDock from July 16, the company announced this week.
Some eight leading clubs from Isthmian’s London region are competing for the league title with the finals on July 18, in fast-paced 20-minute matches with just two timeouts for each team.
SportsDock is a £21 million state-of-the-art facility opened last March at the university’s Beckton campus which Team USA used as their base during last summer’s London Olympics.
Performance events already staged have included British Wheelchair basketball, Jordan Brand Classic and Midnight Madness.
It is also the home for English Basketball League’s Newham All Stars Sports Academy, Neptunes and UEL’s own basketball club.
