BBL Championship: London Lions 89 Durham Wildcats 76

London Lions halted their recent slide and picked up a first win in four attempts after completing an 89-76 victory against Durham Wildcats at the Copper Box Arena.

Having lost three games in a row and having already been defeated twice by Wildcats, the heat was on the home side.

But, they responded by racking up a huge third quarter to jump into the box-seat and grab the cushion needed to survive a final quarter wobble.

Centre Kramer Knutson was excellent with 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and three blocks, whilst playmaker Rod Brown had 13 points, 10 assists and four steals.

Martin missed out on a double-double by one rebound after a terrific shooting night.

Lions had initially raced into a double-digit lead inside four minutes after the excellent Mike Martin completed an ‘and-1’ play to make it 12-2.

However, Durham finally woke up from their early game slumber and an 8-1 run was completed by guard Kirk Crecco, who tied the scores at 24-24 early in the second quarter.

By half-time, the visitors had sneaked in front by a solitary point, but with Chez Marks finding his range from downtown when the play resumed, Lions made their move and posted a decisive 29-13 third quarter.

Durham rallied with a 12-0 run in the fourth to haul themselves back into contention, but Lions held firm in crunch time to get the job done.
