London Lions have acquired 6ft 11ins Englishman Ian Salter ahead of the new British Basketball League season.
The 25-year-old centr played his college basketball at the University of Toledo in the US and last season had a spell with the Worcester Wolves which was cut short due to injury.
Lions head coach Vince Macaulay, who caught up with Salter on his trip to Las Vegas in the summer, said: “Ian was a real surprise, I didn’t get to see him much last season but he was on my squad in Vegas and really impressed me not least his 15 point 15 rebound performance in a crucial win for us, I think he can cause all sorts of problems on the floor.”
Salter was excited to get another chance back in the BBL, saying: “Coach Macaulay was straight when he spoke to me - I had to impress him in the games we were playing. I am just so happy to get back to playing in a pro League and want to contribute to what the Lions are trying to achieve.”
Salter joins Makal Stibbins, Zaire Taylor, Lovell Cook and Andrew Sullivan on the Lions squad.
Lions fans can see the team in action at the first home game of the season on Friday October 3 when they take on BBL newcomers Bristol Flyers at the Copper Box Arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Season tickets are also still available and give fans the opportunity to choose their own seat for the season as well as exclusive access to many activities involving the team.
