Transfer news: Free agents Mikael Silvestre, John Mensah and Anthony Vanden Borre are on trial at West Ham, manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed.

Defender Silvestre is well known to English fans, having played for Manchester United and Arsenal. The Frenchman is available on a free transfer after leaving Werder Bremen in the summer.

Vanden Borre left from Belgium side Genk and Mensah has has been without a club since exiting Lyon at the end of last season.

Allardyce said: “They have been training with us but there is no decision on whether we will be pursuing their services or not at this moment in time.
