West Ham have confirmed the signing of Wolves centre-back Roger Johnson on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 30-year-old goes straight into the Hammers’ squad for their Capital One Cup semi-final first leg at Manchester City on Wednesday, as Winston Reid, James Tomkins and James Collins all remain sidelined with injuries.

League Cup-winner Johnson joined Wolves in the summer of 2011 after Birmingham City’s relegation from the Premier League.

He then suffered back-to-back relegations with Wolves, who are now in League One, and has spent the first half of the season on loan at Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, where he made 17 appearances.
