West Ham boss hoping to add one more ‘quality’ signing before deadline

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that he is still in the market for one more key signing before the transfer window closes.

The Hammers have been busy this summer, spending in excess of £30million on the likes of Enner Valencia, Aaron Cresswell and Mauro Zarate.

Allardyce was under pressure in the summer but has been backed by co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan.

An impressive display at Crystal Palace was sandwiched between two defeats at Upton Park so far this season and so Allardyce wants one more star name.

A central defender looks the target, with the East Enders currently having only three first team centre backs on the books.

Micah Richards of Manchester City has been one name mentioned and Allardyce nodded to the fact that one more will be coming through the door.

“We have the budget for one quality player and that’s a possibility before the window shuts,” Allardyce said in his weekly press conference.

The West Ham manager also confirmed that he hoped no players will be leaving Upton Park before Monday’s deadline despite interest in Ravel Morrison, Mo Diame and Winston Reid.

“At the moment, I can’t see anyone going the other way.”
