New manager David Moyes is already having a positive impact on the West Ham United squad, according to winger Michail Antonio.

Moyes, the former Manchester United and Everton boss, took over the Hammers last week, replacing Slaven Bilic in the dugout.

The Scot has already made his presence felt on the training ground, saying in his first press conference last week that he would work the players hard.

So far, a rib injury has prevented Antonio from taking part in a training session under Moyes, though the 27-year-old could be fit in time to make the trip to Watford in the Premier League this Sunday.

However, despite not taking an active part in training, Antonio says he has still seen the effect Moyes is having.

“Obviously I have not been able to train under him, but right now, things are looking good,” the ex-Nottingham Forest midfielder told the club website.

“He’s come in and things have been quite intense. Everything’s quite different. He’s out there, he’s standing with the boys, he’s taking training himself and he’s very involved.

“I see positive things. I feel like things are going to go well under him.”

Moyes’ remit is a seemingly simple one: to guide West Ham away from the relegation zone.

With over a quarter of the season gone, the east Londoners sit in the bottom three, having won just two of their 11 league matches to date.

Given the Hammers shelled out over £40m on new players in the summer, it has been a poor start to the campaign and one which ultimately cost former boss Bilic his job.

Since Moyes took charge, there has been plenty of speculation regarding further additions to be made in January.

One man who has been linked with the London Stadium outfit is Marouane Fellaini, who worked under the Scot at both Everton and Manchesters United.

But Antonio feels the players the new boss currently has at his disposal are good enough to haul West Ham away from danger.

“With the squad that we have, we definitely shouldn’t be in the situation that we are in,” he added.

“With a bit of structure and more belief and confidence, we will definitely be going up the league.”
