Our West Ham columnist Tony Cottee is on his soapbox again after Cresswell yellow cards

Saturday was a magnificent win for the Hammers and one that will hopefully turn the corner, but before I talk about that, I am going to get on my soapbox again.

Those two decisions that led to the sending off of Aaron Cresswell were an absolute joke.

The first one was clearly a penalty as Aaron had his leg taken away and the second was maybe a foul, but certainly not a yellow card.

Those two decisions could have cost us the match and that would have been simply wrong and what it says to me is that we have to bring in more video refereeing.

If we had Howard Webb or Dermot Gallagher sitting in the stands, the whistle had already gone and they could have had a quick look and made the right call.

What also infuriates me is that you cannot appeal a yellow card. When are the FA going to move into the 21st century and sort this sort of thing out?

People are watching all over the world and when they see that, what are they going to think about our game?

Rant over, let us talk about the performance which I thought was excellent.

It was clear to me that Slaven had worked really hard on the new system on the training ground and it showed.

We had to ride our luck a little in the last 20 minutes with 10 men and with the penalty miss, but I think that is always going to happen.

I had some choice words to say about Zaza last week, and I am sticking by those. Bilic may have been full of praise for him, but to me your striker needs to score goals and he is not doing that, so for me the jury is still out.

Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho will be back sooner rather than later and if Zaza is still not scoring then, I don’t think Slaven will be playing him.

We are all hoping that at the end of the season we can look back and say that raining evening at Selhurst Park was the turning point.

But it will not be if we don’t go and push on by beating Sunderland on Saturday.

They may be bottom, but when they have a player like Jermain Defoe in their ranks they are always going to be dangerous.

If we take them lightly then they will take advantage of that. We need to show the same level of commitment that we did at Palace.

I am feeling confident about this game and I will be going for a 3-1 home win.
