Jonas Olsson is hoping to keep Andy Carroll quiet and help West Brom take a huge step to Premier League safety by beating West Ham in Saturday’s showdown at the Hawthorns.
The Baggies are three points clear of the drop zone while Sam Allardyce’s men have a seven-point cushion in 12th place.
Centre-back Olsson says West Brom are fully focused on beating the Hammers, who are looking to end a dismal run of three consecutive defeats.
“We need to get over that line sooner rather than later,” Olsson told West Brom’s official website.
“And why not on Saturday?
“We will focus totally on that and get ready for it.
“Of course it will be a different game to Man City but we will speak about it and we will have time to prepare and make sure we’re ready.
“We have to focus all our energy on Saturday because that’s going to be massive.”
Carroll was absent for the Hammers’ 3-3 draw with West Brom in December, but Olsson is looking forward to coming up against the England hopeful.
“He is a test. He’s a really good player and it always seems to be a physical battle between us,” said the Swede.
“I like that and I’m sure he likes it as well.
“It will be a test but I am looking forward to it. And hopefully we can get over that line soon rather than later.”
